Researchers Spin Fishing Line into Super Muscles
"Scientists at the University of Texas at Dallas have designed super strong artificial muscles by simply twisting and coiling ordinary fishing line. The coiled muscles can lift more than 100 times the weight of a human muscle of the same size, and generate as much mechanical power per kilogram as a jet engine — perhaps offering an inexpensive new material to move prosthetics and robotic exoskeletons."

Jawbone’s emerging, according to Wired, as a serious contender to Apple

According to Wired Magazine, Jawbone may be poised to take on Apple. That’s kind of a big statement, yet they might be right. It’s nice to see a physical product design company getting some attention these days!

Contracts, Contracts, Contracts! One of the most important things that many of us designers forget or are intimidated to do. PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR IDEAS BECAUSE YOU ARE WORTH IT
Thanks Paul for sending it to me and reinforcing the idea of contracts….and lawyers (if you can afford one).

Dear Mr. Romney,
Perhaps you shouldn’t be president after all. Many of us wonderful citizens of this great nation grew up watching, listening to, or otherwise enjoying Big Bird and his gang. As adults, we may also enjoy Jim Lehrer and his insights and would enjoy seeing the whole crew funded into the foreseeable future. If you would be so kind, please don’t threaten America’s national Big Bird.
To those who are curious: After Mr. Romney’s comments at the first debate, I put this image together to commemorate Shepard Fairey’s wonderful nod to now-President Obama. Enjoy.

This is just wonderful in every way. A Grand Rapids-based designer creates a vision of a streamlined city bike that’s (perhaps impractical but) very cool.
